National Scrapbooking Day

In celebration of National Scrapbooking Day last week, I participated in a couple of on-line crops. The fact that I managed to get 2 layouts done and 3 cards in one weekend is a major feat for me. I am quite happy with what I managed to produce. I got to play with some new products and to try some new techniques.

In this Easter layout, I made my own bling swirls using transparencies and Liquid Pearls (as per Lynn B). They worked out really well and I am going to continue to use this technique.


Materials: Bazzill cs, Prima transparency, Imaginesce flowers, Prima leaves, Basic Grey rubon, Bling swirls made with Liquid Pearls, Mambi bling, M's 1.50 bling, Bazzill dot cs, LYB pp, paint and Copic markers, White Signo pen and for the life of me I can't remember the manufacturer of the brads but they are princess brads.

I also dug out my Copic markers which I have only used to colour Prima clear bling swirls to this point and actually did some colouring. I picked up a Mememto ink pad and I must admit it made a huge difference in my images.

Materials: Bazzill dot cs, LYB pp, Melissa Francis pp, Copic Markers, Momento ink, Dew Drops, misc. ribbon, Prism cs.

I love this last layout. I love the Spellbinder leaves. The dark pink ribbon buds and all the bling intermingled. I am having so much fun playing with layering and pop-dots. Gotta love pop-dots.

Materials: Core-dinations cardstock, Bo Bunny pp, Prima bling, Misc. ribbon, Bazzill cs, Sharpie journalling pen, Thickers, Copic Markers.

The crops are still continuing until the end of this week and I hope to attempt a few more of the challenges. Pesky everyday stuff, like work, has been getting in the way.

Just some recent layouts...

My mojo really hasn't been around much lately so I haven't produced much. Even when mojo is visiting I don't produce much, I seem to be a slow scrapper but here are a few of the ones that I have done recently:

Materials: Rose Mocha pattern paper, Core-dinations cardstock, Queen & Company adhesive felt, Prima bling, transparency, MAMBI bling, Versamark ink, Ranger Distress Ink, Spellbinder's dies.


Materials: Autumn Leaves pattern paper, Prima adhesive felt, Prism cardstock, Sharpie journalling pen, Prima bling.

Scrapfest 2009

Gotta love a girl's weekend away!! I had so much fun and managed to spend most of the money that I had put away for it. The good thing is that I have lots of new things to play with and it has got my mojo going again.

I left after I dropped the munchkins after to school to pick up my mates on the way. I tend to drive a bit on the fast side and I over estimated the time it would take me to pick up Carmen and Michelle. Carmen and I decided to stop in at Marchant's Paper in Kitchener to "waste" a bit of time. Wow...there is a lot of stuff stuffed in that store. I managed to find some of the Spellbinder Spirelli die's. I have been meaning to order these for quite some time and to find them just hanging on the way. Score!

After picking up Michelle and having a bit of lunch, we were on our way once again. Wow, can we chat up a storm. It is amazing how easily we fell into conversation for people who have only met up a few times IRL. Traffic was great for a Friday and we made it to Bobbi-Lynn's in great time. 8 of us stayed with her. Surprisingly, it wasn't really crowded. I got "banished" to one of the kids rooms to sleep since I snore.

We shopped up a storm. I managed to spend half my money on Friday night. Surprisingly there didn't seem to be a lot of people Friday night even though the sold out the VIP tickets.

Saturday, we celebrated Bobbi-Lynn's birthday even though it is still a few weeks away. Teresa managed to keep her away from the VIP room until we were able to get it decorated. We managed to surprise her which apparently is not an easy thing to do.


I was hoping to get over the AUD earlier in the day but slept in much longer than I normally do in the morning. I still managed to make a dent in my money again.

The afternoon was spent in Tracy Paul`s Deco Clay class. This clay is so cool. I managed to snag one of her two books on making the flowers. She makes it look so easy when she was demoing. I guess I will find out when I get a chance to play with the clay more.


One of the best parts of the trip was on the way back on Sunday. Michelle suggested that we stop at Teddy`s Deli for lunch. Oh my....the food was excellent. Hot roast beef sandwich to die for...the gravy was so yummy. They roast all their own meat on site. We had to end the meal with a piece of coconut cream pie. Wow...it was light, sweet and so very gooooood.

We spent so much time chatting with each other that I could barely talk when I got home. It was fabulous weekend and oh so much fun.

A Change...

I decided to make some changes since I have a renewed commitment to writing in this blog. I love this free template. I keep downloading different ones to change the look when I get the urge.

Materials: All the materials for this layout was from the February Just Cre8 kit except for the sequins. Fancy pants pp, Skribblz, misc. buttons, dollar store heart sequins, Distress ink.


Materials: Prism cs, Bazzill cs, Bazzil edges, MM pp, MAMBI bling, unknown brads, Ranger alcohol inks & blending solutions, Avery transparencies.

These are just 3 of the layouts that I completed as part of the ScrapCentrals Scrap Map Challenge. It was a fabulous challenge and really got my mojo flowing. I have produced some of my favourite layouts during this challenge.

A long time between posts...

I had every intention of trying to keep this up on a regular basis but I am embarrassed to admit that I completely forgot about the blog. It just completely slipped my mind that I had even started one. I blame it on getting older and the fact that after two pregnancies, I have huge holes eaten away in my otherwise organized "A" type personality brain.

I have done quite of bit of work since September -- more than I usually do. I am such a slow scrapper that if I managed to get a layout done a week I am jumping for joy.

I will post some projects later tonight. I am at work right now practicing "work avoidance" and I don't have the image files here.
