Ah....absolute bliss. No kiddos. No husband. Just me and my girlfriends. I have been looking forward to this weekend since the last retreat a year ago. I should have lots to share with you next week if we don't spend all of our time chatting.

It is that time again....
There is yet another card sketch up on the LCOM Sketch blog and I am happy to say it is another one of mine.
This sketch just seems to be be perfect for a set of new Heather's Stamping Haven stamps that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. The fact that the rose design was in a circular shape was something that I couldn't have planned better and the fact that it happened to go very well with the new Crate Paper Random collection was just the icing on the cake.
The rose is stamped with Memento ink and coloured with Copic makers. To soften the colours, I aged it with some Antique Linen and Tea Dye Distress ink.

This week's card sketch....
It is up on the LCOM Sketch blog. This week's sketch is a versatile one that can easily be adapted to a variety of styles.
When it came around to make the card from this sketch, I could not get the new Maya Road silhouette stamps out of my head. They seemed well suited to the oval design in the centre. Add in the new Lost and Found 2 collection by My Mind's Eye and one ends up with a cute card with a vintage country charm.
The faux stitching is drawn on with a Tombow marker. I inked the edges of the scroll die before I used it to cut the paper. I like the effect of ink not fully covering the embossed edge but pooling in the crevice instead. The stamped oval silhouette and the scrolly frame beneath were first stamped and hand cut.

Materials used: My Minds Eye Lost & Found 2 pattern paper, Echo Park For the Record pattern paper, Bazzill cardstock, Prima
Flowers, Ranger Distress Ink stain, Tombow marker, Making Memories pearl accents, Maya Road cameo stamps, pop dots, Spellbinder dies and Memento ink.

Altering....
I have decided it is time to start wearing an apron while I am working on my projects. I ruined another pair of work pants without even realizing it.
I picked up an inexpensive craft apron from a teacher supply store in my neighbourhood. I know that over time it would been covered in ink and paint but I just couldn't bring myself to wear such a blinding white apron.
It was almost like the apron was mocking me. Saying "I am too clean. Your mojo has deserted you. If you were creative, I would be wearing the battle scars." No matter that the apron is brand new.
Intervention was required. Paint, ink, gel medium and glue needed to be splattered over the surface. My hands had to be stained blue so that my kiddos think that I am turning into a Smurf. I misted, painted, stamped and glued gems.
Now this apron has a nice base that I can add accidental splatters from my creative process. Hopefully it will prevent any more of my clothes from becoming victims.
The other result of this exercise is that I need to play more with altering. I kind of suck at it.....I will tell you a secret. I attempted to use my heat gun to help dry my wet mediums quickly only to melt a hole in the apron....yep, I need a lot more practice.

The Card Sketch is Up
Actually, it has been up on the LCOM Sketch blog since Wednesday. Things have been a little crazy this week and this has been the first chance that I have had to post.
I fell in love with the BoBunny Garden Girl paper pack. The purple colour scheme and the Art Nouveau patterns are just so me. I had to dig into it as soon as it came home.
