Scrapfest 2009

Gotta love a girl's weekend away!! I had so much fun and managed to spend most of the money that I had put away for it. The good thing is that I have lots of new things to play with and it has got my mojo going again.

I left after I dropped the munchkins after to school to pick up my mates on the way. I tend to drive a bit on the fast side and I over estimated the time it would take me to pick up Carmen and Michelle. Carmen and I decided to stop in at Marchant's Paper in Kitchener to "waste" a bit of time. Wow...there is a lot of stuff stuffed in that store. I managed to find some of the Spellbinder Spirelli die's. I have been meaning to order these for quite some time and to find them just hanging on the way. Score!

After picking up Michelle and having a bit of lunch, we were on our way once again. Wow, can we chat up a storm. It is amazing how easily we fell into conversation for people who have only met up a few times IRL. Traffic was great for a Friday and we made it to Bobbi-Lynn's in great time. 8 of us stayed with her. Surprisingly, it wasn't really crowded. I got "banished" to one of the kids rooms to sleep since I snore.

We shopped up a storm. I managed to spend half my money on Friday night. Surprisingly there didn't seem to be a lot of people Friday night even though the sold out the VIP tickets.

Saturday, we celebrated Bobbi-Lynn's birthday even though it is still a few weeks away. Teresa managed to keep her away from the VIP room until we were able to get it decorated. We managed to surprise her which apparently is not an easy thing to do.


I was hoping to get over the AUD earlier in the day but slept in much longer than I normally do in the morning. I still managed to make a dent in my money again.

The afternoon was spent in Tracy Paul`s Deco Clay class. This clay is so cool. I managed to snag one of her two books on making the flowers. She makes it look so easy when she was demoing. I guess I will find out when I get a chance to play with the clay more.


One of the best parts of the trip was on the way back on Sunday. Michelle suggested that we stop at Teddy`s Deli for lunch. Oh my....the food was excellent. Hot roast beef sandwich to die for...the gravy was so yummy. They roast all their own meat on site. We had to end the meal with a piece of coconut cream pie. Wow...it was light, sweet and so very gooooood.

We spent so much time chatting with each other that I could barely talk when I got home. It was fabulous weekend and oh so much fun.

A Change...

I decided to make some changes since I have a renewed commitment to writing in this blog. I love this free template. I keep downloading different ones to change the look when I get the urge.

Materials: CI die cut pp, Scenic Route pp, Rose Mocha pp, Bazzill dot cs, LYB chipboard embellishments, LYB acetate glitter embellishments and bling, miscellanous ribbon, Riff Raff chipboard, Brilliance ink, miscellaneous transfer foil.


Materials: All the materials for this layout was from the February Just Cre8 kit except for the sequins. Fancy pants pp, Skribblz, misc. buttons, dollar store heart sequins, Distress ink.


Materials: Prism cs, Bazzill cs, Bazzil edges, MM pp, MAMBI bling, unknown brads, Ranger alcohol inks & blending solutions, Avery transparencies.

These are just 3 of the layouts that I completed as part of the ScrapCentrals Scrap Map Challenge. It was a fabulous challenge and really got my mojo flowing. I have produced some of my favourite layouts during this challenge.

A long time between posts...

I had every intention of trying to keep this up on a regular basis but I am embarrassed to admit that I completely forgot about the blog. It just completely slipped my mind that I had even started one. I blame it on getting older and the fact that after two pregnancies, I have huge holes eaten away in my otherwise organized "A" type personality brain.

I have done quite of bit of work since September -- more than I usually do. I am such a slow scrapper that if I managed to get a layout done a week I am jumping for joy.

I will post some projects later tonight. I am at work right now practicing "work avoidance" and I don't have the image files here.

All fixed....

I managed to get a better sized file to post. This is what happens when you don't really pay attention to what images you are downloading for posting.

This is using two of the new Cuttlebug embossing folders and the doily lace punch by Martha Stewart. The ribbon is May Arts and the flowers are Martha Stewart. Cardstock is once again by Prism.

I absolutely love how this one turned out.

Finding my muse....

I think I finally found my muse. It has been missing most of the summer. I think it took an extended vacation some place much more interesting than my house.

I have been playing with the new Cuttlebug embossing folders and dies that recently came out. They are fabulous and I love the designs. I had pre-ordered all the ones that I wanted but I keep going back to my LSS to get more. I have an addiction.....

Here are a few of the cards that I have been making lately:

This is a 3 x 3 inch card made using the large rectangle classica scallop Nestie. The stamp is by Great Impressions. Ink used was Versa. Glitter is Making Memories and the Embossing Powder is by Ranger. The bling in the center of the flower is from the Dollar Store.

I love how simple this card is. This is using one of the Cuttlebug new embossing folder/die combos. I outlined the edge using Martha Stewarts gold metalic pen. I also coloured the "So Kind" with the same pen. The ribbon, I believe, is from May Arts but I am not certain. It came in a kit from a kit club that I belonged to last year.

This card was based on a sketch from So Sketchy. The flowers are from the Dollar Store. I can believe some of the great stuff I find at the Dollar store some times. The ribbon is the same as above. The pattern paper is Basic Grey from the Boxer line.

This is one of my favourites -- got to love white on white. The cardstock is Prism. Actually all the cardstock for all 4 cards is from Prism. The bling is from the Dollar Store.

I had a fifth card to post that was actually my favourite one but for some reason blogger keeps resizing the photo down so I will try to post it a little later.
