New Card Sketch

Happy Saturday.  A new card sketch is up over at the LCOM Sketch blog and once again I am late posting about it.  This seems to be coming a bit of a trend.  The new sketch was posted on Wednesday and it is one of mine.  I was in a bit of circle mood when I was doing up the sketch.  I think I might have gotten a little carried away.

Materials used:  Bazzill cardstock, Cosmo Cricket pattern paper, Distress ink, and Dollar store fabric flowers.

The Card Team has done up some great cards with the sketch and I have noticed that we have some others playing along as well.  You should also check out their creations that they have linked to the post.  They are wonderful.

This weekend LCOM is having an on-line crop in the forum.  There are lots of fun challenges all revolving around Valentine's Day and Love. We would love to have you join in.

I am off to tackle a few of the challenges if I can take the dining room table back from the kiddos.  It is currently covered in Lego.

Lazy Week

This has been a bit of a lazy week for me.  My daycare provider is off enjoying the beautiful beaches of the Tropics so I have been home with the kiddos for 3 days while my husband took the other 2 days.  At the start of the week, I had all these plans on what I would get accomplished.  I must have had a to do list the length of my arm....well, it is still the length of my arm.

The nice thing is that I am much more relaxed.  I spent the time, while the kiddos were in school, scrapbooking, reading, and catching up on all the TV series that I have behind on.  It was a great week.

I managed to get a layout finished for Challenge #4 at LCOM.  This was the challenge to use the layout sketch #115 as inspiration. 

Materials used:  Bazzill cardstock, Jenni Bowlin paint dauber, Ranger Archival ink, Tattered Angels glimmer mist, KaiserCraft bling, Maya Road flowers, misc. laser cut ribbon, We R Memory Keepers Sew Stamper, and Girl's Papery stickers.

I ended up doing a more stripped down style for this sketch.  Sometimes, I get carried away with the embellishments, so much so, that I worry that it will take away from the image.

Card sketch #12 is up over at the LCOM Sketch Blog as well.  It was posted on Wednesday and it is another fabulous sketch by Rusha.

This card is pretty pink and feminine.  I was looking to make a card that my daughter would love to get for Valentine's Day and Rusha's sketch was perfect.

Not much is on the agenda today.  I have to take my daughter to her ballet class in a couple of hours.  I am looking forward to having a latte and reading the next installment in the Flavia de Luce series while I wait.  The rest of the day is unplanned and I love it that way.  The possibilities are endless.

Lazy Sundays

Today has been a lazy day.  I haven't even changed out of my PJs and I am not planning to at this point.  I have been puttering around the house and working on another layout for the LCOM 8 Week 10 Challenges Challenge.

I managed to get the layout for Challenge #2 completed early in the week.  It was to make a monochromatic layout that included a title, buttons and one picture.

Materials used:  Core-dinations cardstock, Prima flowers, Bazzill cardstock, miscellaneous buttons, Graphic45 pattern paper, KaiserCraft pattern paper, Dollarstore pussy willow piks, Prima pik, American Craft Thickers and KaiserCraft bling.

I am not sure about the title. The font size is too small and doesn't seem to have enough weight to balance out the layout.  I am still thinking of adjusting it.

Challenge #3, which I completed today, was to use a photo of a pillow that was provided as inspiration.  I chose to use the colour scheme as the basis of my layout.

Materials used:  Bazzill cardstock, Echo Park pattern paper, Maya Road trims, dictionary paper, Melissa Francis pin, Prima flower, laser cut felt and flower centers, Lush bling brads, American Craft Thickers, Distress ink, Ranger colour wash, Tattered Angels glimmer mist and pop dots.

I still have Challenge #4 to complete to get myself caught up; but, it is one that I am going to have to think about for a bit.  The challenge is to use the most recent layout sketch from the LCOM Sketch blog.  Speaking of which, this week's card sketch is up as well.  It was posted on Wednesday and is one of my sketches.

Materials used:  KaiserCraft pattern paper, Prima pattern paper, miscellaneous doilies, ribbon and ephemera.

The Card Team did a fabulous job with the sketch.

Was There a Blue Moon Last Night?

Did Hell freeze over?  I actually scrapped a layout last night.  It is the first one that I have completed since my retreat in the fall.  I still can't believe that it has been that long.  I have been concentrating on cards so much that I haven't even looked at the any of my pictures.

Before you say anything...Yes, these pics are from the summer and from Canada Day but it is -19C here with a windchill of -29C.  I need to pretend that it is warmer than it is.

Materials used:  Bazzill cardstock, Echo Park pattern paper, Heidi Swap adhesive letters, American Crafts Thickers, KaiserCraft bling, and Basic Grey journalling spot.

This layout was done as part of LCOM's 8 Week 10 Challenge contest.  For the first Challenge you had to use 2011 in the title, use more than 3 photos and have something square on the layout.  I cut the photos into various sizes of squares and layered them to give some visual interest to an otherwise fairly basic layout.  I tried to do my more layered eclectic style but it didn't seem to fit with the papers and images that I chose.

I really needed a kick in the pants to start scrapping again.  I think I have been in card mode for too long.  I am currently two challenges behind so I think I might spend the rest of the afternoon working on another layout.....Yep....it must be really cold down there today.

Yet Another Card

I really need to do a layout. It has been quite some time since I have done one. I am starting to miss it. I love doing cards but there is something about working in a larger format and having all that space to play in.

LCOM’s Card Sketch #10 was posted over at the Sketch Blog on Wednesday and it is the last post that was written by me. Rusha is back from her vacation and will be resuming the writing duties next week. I was happy to help out but I must admit that I am glad to hand the reins back. Writing is not really my forte.

When I saw Rusha’s sketch, I really wanted to do something with doilies. It seems to be my fall back for sketches with circular designs and is probably the easiest way to add visual interest to a card.
