Well, Sookie Stackhouse took over my life. Since my last post, I have read the rest of the series including the new hard cover. I had to see what happened next. I am patiently waiting for Dead in the Family to be released. Since she just sent it to her editor for first read, I don't think it will be out anytime soon.
That is such a bad habit of mine. I get so caught up in the story that I have to finish. Everything in my life comes to a dead stop and all I do is read. My house is in a shambles. I am late on a circle journal layout and my ATCs are due at the end of the week (I haven't even started them yet) but at least I know what happened with Sookie and Eric, between Sookie and her great-grandfather, and all the rest of the characters in Bon Temps. I am really curious to see where Ms. Harris is going to take the series next.
Tonight I am planning on getting that circle journal layout done and making a dent on getting my ATCs finished. No more reading for me for the next few days. Welll...at least until I have some clean clothes and can at least see the floor of my living room again. Right now it is covered in Lego.

One Layout Done
I was hoping to do more this weekend but I am not sure if I am going to get that chance. I haven't been able to stay awake past 9 pm the last little while. That is such a strange thing for a night owl like me. I do most of my scrapping at night after the kids have gone to bed so all this sleep has been eating into my scrapping time.
As I mentioned earlier, ScrapCentral is having their on-line crop this week. All the challenges are colour based. This particular challenge was to use as much white space as possible with a hint of blue accents whether it was pattern paper, a frame around a photo or blue embellies. Well, my style is not that conducive to a lot of white space...It is more in line with busy space. This was my compromise...my elements would all be white so there would be a muted restlessness to my white space.

I finally dug out my Silhouette as well. I have been meaning to give more attention but I hate to say it but it is the last item that I think to dig out. It is a bit noisy and I have to set it all up with the laptop to use it so it tends to collect dust in the corner. Don't get me wrong....it is not hard to use. Actually, it is very user friendly but when you have so many other things, you tend to forget about it. Everything on this layout was cut out using the Silhouette. It really is an impressive little machine.
I am hoping that once the kiddlets are in bed tonight, I will get a chance to do some scrapping....that is if I can keep myself out of the third Sookie Stackhouse novel. I finished #2 on Thursday and have been dying to crack open #3.

Nothing new to share
I seem to have lost my mojo this week. I had every intention to scrap every night this week. I would get home, feed the kids, clean off the table so that I could dig out my supplies. Every night I just ended up either watching TV or reading a book which was quickly followed by falling asleep on the couch. I guess I was more tired than I thought I was.
Today though...I am going to scrap. I am going to go home and I am going to feed myself caffeine...lots and lots of it. I am not going to sit down on that couch...that evil, wicked sleep inducing couch. I am going to scrap. Tonight is the start of the ScrapCentral's Colour On-line Crop and I am going to do as many challenges I can. I love colour, bright fun colours and this crop was made for me so I am not going to waste another evening sleeping.
So hopefully tomorrow, I will have some wonderful new projects to share...well, to be honest at least one new project.

New Layout
I finally dug into one of those DCWV paper packs that I brought back from vacation a few weeks ago. I love the bright colours in the Fun in the Sun Glitter pack. They were perfect for this photo of my daughter from a trip that we took to the beach in July.
One thing I love to do is to cut out various elements from the pattern paper and layer them and interweave them. I think that it has become the one technique that I use over and over in all my layouts and this layout is no different. The pink pattern paper was originally a square 12x12 sheet with a glitter accent circle. I took an exacto knife and cut out the circle. The flowers and the white swirly leaves are from another piece of pattern paper from the same stack. You don't really notice it much in this photo but they are all glittery as well.
When I started to layer everything, it look a little blah...it needed something more. I have been seeing lots of layouts around the web using the distressed interior circle and I really liked the effect. With distressing and ink the edge and then hand stitching around the circles, it gave it just enough visual interest to reduce the blah but not distract from the photo.
Materials used: Die Cuts With a View pattern paper, Tim Holtz flourish stamp, Ranger Distress Ink, Versacolour ink, Prima stars, Kaisercraft bling, dollar store bling and butterfly, EKSuccess Bookman letter stickers, & pop dots.
What layout would be complete with out some bling? Certainly not one of mine.
I am also loving these new Tim Holtz Flourish stamps. They are fantastic. I can see them becoming a staple in my layouts and cards as well. It is not often that I have used the same stamp twice in less than a week. It is such a versatile stamp set.

New Card
I am just about to head out the door to head to my local scrapbooking store -- The Scrapbox. I am going to drop off my most recent card that I have made.
I occasionally make demo cards to help Jenn up sell some of her products or to demonstrate a new technique that I have found surfing all the blogs that I follow. The last time I picked up the new Tim Holtz flourish stamps and Steph and I plotted to surprise her with this card. Something coloured and layered to show off what you can do with the stamps and show case as much of the new product as I could. She knows that I am planning to do another card for her but she doesn't have an idea of when or with what. I like being sneaky.
Materials used: Prism Simply Smooth cardstock, Bazzil cardstock, Tim Holtz Fabulous Flourishes stamps, Copic Makers (Y06, Y13, Y15, Y17, YR04, YR07, YR09, R27), Memento Tuxedo black ink, Ranger Distress ink (Fired Brick), Glimmer Mist (Pumpkin pie, Scarlet), Prima flowers and leaves, Kaiser Craft bling, pop dots, Cuttlebug Morrocan Screen embossing folder.
I stamped the image 4 times and coloured it in with the Copic makers, I cut out the image and pop dotted various sections to give more dimension to the flourish. I love using dimension on my cards and layouts. I think I am addicted to pop dots.
I sprayed the Prima flower with Glimmer mist and inked the edges of the petals to match the flower to the theme of the card. The flower was originally ivory. These are the new Trellis Roses. I love them. They are so pretty. I love that you can easily alter them to whatever colour you need for a card or layout using Glimmer Mist, inks, alcohol inks, paints...whatever you can think up.
